The energy and strength of Cohen was really the evening’s most pleasant surprise. He was in fine voice all night long, and his enthusiasm never flagged over a 20-song performance. -

dailygleaner.com - Leonard Cohen wows Fredericton Wilifred Langmaid provides a comprehensive, interesting review of Cohen’s performance at the Fredericton Playhouse. Other than some forgivable hometown self-congratulation and an unnecessary use of the classic straw man tactic (see below), the piece is thoughtful, knowledgeable, and includes details not listed elsewhere. A must-read for hard core Cohen fans.

_____________

The Straw Man Segment:

Most people expected quite a few hiccups on opening night. Many people expected a relatively short show, all things considered. Some people thought that the show would be rather weak, but it would still be a chance to see a legend.

These people were all wrong.

I found little of this sort of speculation prior to the concert. Perhaps Mr. Langmaid has been hanging out with the wrong sort of people.
